Our Beijing Hutong Bike Tour was designed to satisfy all your curiosities without getting confused about the criss-cross alleys. You will be guided and bike in the narrow and appealing traditional alleys, passing by the famous ancient residence, and take a deep breath along the bank of Houhai lake. More importantly, you will take the advantage of tasting the Chinese dumpling at the famous restaurant - Mr. Shis Dumplings without being hassled to find it difficultly among the alleys.

Detailed itinerary:

We depart from our hostel (Beijing Downtown Backpackers Accommodation) and head for Houhai lake by passing through Maoer Hutong. We will stop at the ancient residence of Wen Yu to take an outside view in Maoer. When we get to the lake of Houhai, the biking is along the bank and then we cross by Yinding Bridge.

The next stop will be an outside view of Prince Kungs Mansion.

We come back to Yinding Bridge and get out of the the area by passing through the famous street - Yan Dai Xie Jie, and then you will enjoy an outside view of the Bell Tower and Drum Tower. After that, we head for the well-known Yonghegong Lama Temple. We bike for 10 minutes to the area of the temple and then we park the bike and enter the temple.

Notes:

1. As this tour is rather flexible, you can decide your own starting time when there is only your group;

2. The alleys in Houhai is very crowded in the afternoon, please start no later than 10:00 a.m.

Why are we better?

1. Absolutely NO shopping stop;

2. Less crowded, more relaxed;

3. Recommended by Lonely Planet (China) at page 91, 13th Edition;

4. More than 50,000 previous visitors agree, we provide the best tours.

5. We are the FINAL OPERATOR of this tour. We organize and supervise the whole process of it. If you stay at some other hostels in the neighborhood and book the tour from them, they could be our clients and not the real tour operator, they could finally arrange you to different places as they likely plan because they normally have several supplying companies operating different tours.

    Stumbled across this hostel when I knew I had to find somewhere else to stay after finishing a tour. Got a 7 bed dorm for equivalent of about £8 which included breakfast. Very clean room with nice big lockers if you want to secure your luggage whilst you\'re out and about. Bathroom cleaned daily, there was no shower curtain in or bathroom though and shower was opposite a big mirror....so I could see what all that Peking duck was doing to my figure! Wifi fast and reliable. Absolutely loved the location, it\'s a busy little street but you won\'t be stuck for something on a stick to munch on! Lots of cute boutique shops around, it\'s also walking distance to a lot of other locations (NB you don\'t necessarily need to get the subway everywhere in Beijing you\'re often better off walking!) The free breakfast was great, I personally didn\'t like the bacon but also had toast, eggs, fruit and a sour milk drink. Kept me going until lunch time! I was only here one night so didn\'t arrange any tours but any of the big things you want to do in Beijing can be easily arranged by the lovely English speaking staff at reception.

    I could absolutely be lost if there was no guide. The alleys were so narrow and zigzagging. But it was really interesting to see the real life of local people and the old houses. Anne from France

    It is amazing and we enjoyed all the time. We would definitely get lost without a guide. The most impressive thing is the big Buddha statue in Lama Temple that was made out of one big tree. The dumpling is delicious. I recommend this tour! -Tatiana from France
